Man Shot, Killed After Fight Breaks Out At Long Island House Party

One man was shot and killed and another stabbed after a fight broke out overnight in the street during a house party on Long Island.

It happened in Medford at around 1:35 a.m. Saturday, July 6 near Cedar Lane and West Lane, Suffolk County Police said.

The man who was stabbed was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Darnell Smith, 36, of East Patchogue has been identified as the shooting victim.

Smith was transported by private vehicle to the Coram Fire Department, located at 303 Middle Country Road, Coram. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
